Legends of Honor Review2022 is a free-to-play browser MMO developed by Spur Games. Players will build and maintain a castle, with all the armies and fun that accompany the prestigious position.

Legends of Honor is a strategy MMO set in a medieval fantasy world that features three factions and brutal PvP gameplay. Fortify your castle and send your heroes into the wilderness to fight marauders and enemy players to increase your honor points.

Legends of Honor Review2022

Gameplay is similar to any browser castle RTS, especially those developed by Spur Games. I’m looking at you Shadow Kings. What differentiates Legends of Honor from its peers is its setting and tone. The game is dark and brooding with a realistic art style and more than a few Game of Thrones parallels.

A very interesting aspect of the game is its hero feature. While not unique it is well executed and gives the game a bit of variety. It also provides that leveling feel, for those fans of more traditional MMO experiences.

Legends of Honor Review2022 is a solid entry into a well-established genre. It doesn’t do very much new, but what it does do, it does well.

➔ Main points:

  • 2015 Browser MMO
  • Castle Building
  • Fun Hero System
  • Tedious Quests

Overview: Legends of Honor Review2022

Legends of Honor is a free-to-play, browser-based MMORTS created by Spur Games, the development studio responsible for Empire: Four Kingdoms, Goodgame Empire, and Big Farm games. The game offers all of the features players would come to expect from a browser MMORTS: city-building focus, resource management, a hero system, tons of recruitable units, and PvP gameplay. A unique feature of the game is its inclusion of factions—Warriors of the Wild Lands, Order of the Golden Claw, and the Knights of Ash and Shadow—that are inspired by George R.R. Martin’s Song of Ice & Fire series. The factions offer players colored flags for their castles, access to alliances associated with that faction, and an in-game identity that allows them to band together with other players under their faction’s flag to overcome powerful enemies. Legends of Honor also features world map exploration, which allows heroes to traverse the game map and discover enemies in the field that can be defeated for resources.

The Game in a Nutshell

Legends of Honor plays very similarly to other games of the castle RTS genre. Players are tasked with constructing buildings within a limited space. Each building has different effects and provides different bonuses. Building each installation requires resources. These resources are acquired mainly through the construction of buildings, fighting, and quest completion.

You can also gather resources by clicking different areas on the screen, the forest and mountains more specifically. Without the use of premium currency, this area of the game can be a bit of a time sink. It can take hours for a higher-tier building to be constructed. Same for fighting units. This, of course, can be circumvented by purchasing gems from the cash shop and completing constructions instantly.

In any event, once players have the means to gather resources they can begin bolstering their army. Unlocking better units comes with having a higher Honor rank. Think of this like trophies from Clash of Clans. The more you win the higher your rank will be, and you will lose rank upon a loss or by attacking lower-ranked players. This punishes higher-level players for bullying newer, weaker ones, not to say it completely prevents abuse.

The Makings of a Hero

One of the most enjoyable aspects of Legends of Honor is its hero system. Though iterations of a similar concept have been seen in other games. Los executes in a very satisfying and fun way. Heroes are your classic MMORPG protagonists, complete with stats, gear, and attachments. They are what you use to roam the game’s world map.

Heroes, give the game a bit of flair. Running into enemy heroes is thrilling, and doing your best to max your’ attributes is an enjoyable way to spend time with the game. Having multiple heroes each with their own armies roaming the world independently makes the game feel like a true RTS. It even gives off a bit of a 4X strategy game vibe, in the vain of civilization.

Each hero unit can attack one at a time and battles are divided into two categories. Assault and Destruction. Assault is a single battle. It gives you the opportunity to seize enemy resources and weaken their defenses. Destruction is a do-or-die attack that doesn’t stop until one force is completely wiped out, no matter if it is you or your enemy.

Unfortunately, the game has a distinct lack of units. Meaning it is very limited when it comes to creating strategies. Weaker units are used in the beginning, however are completely discarded once a better unit is unlocked. There really is no incentive to use older units, besides them tending to be cheaper to produce.

These early units are also strangely difficult to acquire. Grinding your first rank of Honor is tedious, and the questlines are simple and boring. Most come down to building a certain building or producing a certain unit. Again this is very much like other MMO Browser RTS’s, however, I would have liked to find some improvements made in Legends of Honor.

The Art of Honor

Legends of Honor has a realistic art style in stark contrast to other more cartoony castle builders. It is very much inspired by George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire. Right down to the factions (Lion, Dragon, and Bear).

The environments are well done, they each feel sort of like a storybook. The character design fits well into the darker world. Overall the art is quite good. It’s nothing short of AAA. A player looking for a pretty browser game will definitely want to check out LoH

Conclusion

Legends of Honor is a classic castle building experience with a few innovative nooks and crannies. Playing the game feels like adventuring through a storybook, due mostly to the awesome art style.

Heroes are a fun way to keep the player engaged. I found myself sinking plenty of time into outfitting my heroes with the best possible equipment and units. It’s one of the few newer elements the game has.

Though tedious the castle building is deep and requires forethought and planning to create an effective compound. It’s a mostly fun experience with only a few drawbacks.
Fans of games such as Clash of Clans and Shadow Kings should try out Legends of Honor. It will appeal to the hardcore castle builder, however, more casual players should be a bit wary.
